Properties and Effects
EatEnjoy Dairy contains a unique enzyme blend that facilitates the consumption of foods containing dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream, desserts, cream, butter), reducing the feelings of discomfort in the digestive system which this food can cause.
Digestive discomfort caused by dairy products can result from the body’s lack of a sufficient amount of a lactase enzyme and/or protease enzyme required for the proper digestion of foods containing dairy.
EatEnjoy Dairy is a dual-functioning enzyme blend, formulated with a combination of both lactase and protease enzyme blend. It breaks down the lactose associated with dairy intolerance, as well as making the milk proteins that could cause an immune response easier to digest and absorb.
Lactase enzyme is responsible for breaking down lactose, a carbohydrate found in dairy products. The lactose is too large for the body to absorb, so the enzyme lactase is required to break it down into simple units or simple sugars, allowing the body to digest and absorb them effectively. If the body does not produce a sufficient amount of lactase, this can lead to a condition called lactose intolerance. An individual with lactose intolerance will develop symptoms within 20 minutes to two hours after consuming dairy products. The most common symptoms are stomach pains, gas, bloating, and cramping. More extreme symptoms include nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.
The protease enzyme is required for the breakdown of whey and casein, both of which are protein components of milk. These proteins need to be broken down into smaller peptides by protease enzymes in order to be used by the body. When a body lacks a sufficient amount of protease enzymes, it can develop protein sensitivity. This condition can present itself as an overreaction or hypersensitive reaction of the body’s immune system. The protein itself may be harmless, but the body recognises it as a foreign substance and launches a defensive response. Common symptoms as a result of this response include bloating, nausea, cramping and pain.
